We all know that travel is one of the best things you can do in life – perhaps even the best thing you can do. There are so many opportunities and new places to visit that you’ll never get bored. With enough travel, life can be one long adventure.
For some people, however, just traveling to a place once in a while isn’t enough, and they find that they actually want to live there instead. There are actually various reasons why someone might make this life-changing decision, and we’ve listed some of them below.
You’re Bored
Being bored can be a catalyst for all kinds of things, from starting a new hobby to ending a relationship. It can also be the reason that long-distance moving suddenly seems so appealing.
If you feel as though you’ve ‘been there and done that’ in your current location, it may well be time to try somewhere new. They do say that variety is the spice of life, and if you want to make the most of the time you have on earth, do what’s necessary to keep it interesting – even if that means moving thousands of miles away from where you’re currently living – might be the answer.
Career Opportunities
Having overseas work experience can help your career in many different ways. You can become a more valuable employee by improving your versatility through the cultivation of soft skills (e.g., adaptability, communication), by learning about other business processes and cultures, or by mastering a new language. According to the findings of a recent study, getting work experience in a different country is associated with a higher probability of being promoted more quickly.
Therefore, even if your move is not a permanent one, heading to another country to work could be exactly what your career needs. It will also open up the world of work to you, and by only looking locally, you may well have been limiting your potential.
Cost Of Living
Everything is expensive right now and getting more costly by the day, or so it seems. It could be that in order to help save some money, moving to a different country would be the best thing you can do.
For example, if you have a remote job you can do it with just a laptop and an internet connection, it doesn’t actually matter what country you’re in when you do it. You could move to a country with a lower cost of living but make the same money you’re making right now. How much would you be able to save? You might be able to pay off all your debts more quickly or finally be able to save for a down payment on a property. Or you might just want to enjoy the money that you never had before. It’s your choice. But if you’re spending less and making the same amount, and you can do that by moving to a country you love and want to spend more time in, why wouldn’t you do it?
