After sharing our totally delicious unicorn poop cookies on Facebook, I got a lot of requests asking how in the world did we make these. So here is my blog post to share with everyone so you can make your own totally awesome unicorn poop cookies as well.
As much as I would like to, I cannot take credit for these as I stumbled upon them one day while looking up fun things to bake for our Tuesday baking class for school on Kids Activities Blog. But I just thought I would share our photos and experience on making these.
I totally forgot to snap a photo of our ingredients we used before using them. Oops... So I will just have to compile a list for you instead. Sorry about that.
You are also able to make the sugar cookie dough from scratch and therefore your
ingredients will change slightly. Also it may change depending on the brand of sugar cookie dough you buy. So just follow the list on your instructions for eggs and butter, etc.
Start by preheating your oven to what is suggested for your mix. Then start adding the ingredients together until the dough is soft and mixed well. I cheated and used a mixer. My husband prefers to mix everything by hand and thinks I'm crazy to use a mixer. I like the mixer!
Once mixed, separate the dough into four equal sections and place them into different bowls.

Take your gel food coloring and add a good amount to each bowl. I know some people use less, but we used almost the entire tubes. Remember, the more you use, the more vibrant your colors will be. And I wanted them as pretty as I could get!
Stir until the colors are all mixed in well. My daughter wanted to do this part so I let her and then finished up to make sure she had it nice and mixed. The colors are just stunning.
Next step is to roll them into individual balls and cut into four equal parts. Then separate and group one part from the four colors together.

Next step is to roll them into individual balls and cut into four equal parts. Then separate and group one part from the four colors together.

Group one section of four colors together and press them into one ball. Sprinkle flour on your surface and start to roll the ball out into a snake form. Then start on one end and roll the dough into a curl until you get the shape of "poop".
To make more cookies out of your bunch, we started to cut the rolled dough in half once it was the size snake we desired.

Do this with all your dough. Grease your baking pan and place each "poop" cookie onto the sheet to be placed into the oven. Bake according to the directions your sugar cookie package said to.

Once the cookies are ready to come out of the oven, it's time to decorate! Add your clear frosting gel and sprinkles to each cookie.

And ta-da!!! You have just created your very own super yummy .....
