What's this talk about needles being pushed into my face? Yes you heard me. I was crazy enough to give this a go. And I have no idea how I was going to react since I hate needles of anytime near my skin. So why would I be crazy enough to try this you ask? Because I was holding onto a glimpse of hope that I may have found the holy grail of skin rejuvenation. And did I? Well, keep reading to find out.
So what am I talking about? I was introduced and invited to try out the Derma Roller Enhanced Total Body Kit by Puruskin. I have to say, I was really excited because I have suffered for a very long time with some serious scars on my face that have made me feel so ugly, less than confident, and just really uncomfortable anytime I looked in the mirror. It has put my self esteem so low because of these scars.
I was really skeptical on hearing that there was a product that could take these away pretty painlessly and no laser treatments at a doctors office. I have seen and used many products that say they help reduce scaring but it seems that my scars were too much and nothing seemed to work. Ever! And that made me feel even worse. I felt like I had no hope at all. I would be stuck feeling ugly and humiliated with my skin forever.
So I anxiously tried the Derma Roller from Puruskin. The kit came with everything shown. I received a 1.5mm {1200 needles} attachment, a 1.0mm {600 needles} attachment, a 0.5mm {180 needles} attachment and a handle that you could mount the different attachment heads to.

What do all these things do?
- Use the 0.5 mm size for the skin around eyes and nose area for things like fine lines and wrinkles.
- Use the 1.0 mm for general facial rolling for things such as dark spots or scars.
- Use the larger 1.5 mm roller head which has 1200 needles for body rolling, deeper wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite, and even loose skin.

I have to admit, I have only used the 1.0mm attachment recommended for your face. I have yet to try the others. I'm a bit nervous to though. The directions say to sterilize the head unit for around 30 mins to make sure the needles are properly sanitized before applying to your skin.
As a rule, you cannot share your Derma Roller with a friend, parent, spouse, sibling.... no one. It can cause very serious issues. So stick to sharing your clothes...not your cosmetics or cosmetic devices.
When using, make sure your skin is properly cleansed as well as the Derma Roller. Once you have that down, attach the choice of head you want to use and apply to the area. This was where it got a bit scary for me. Having to roll needles over my face was not what I would call a good time. And I was wondering if it would even work or do anything.
I applied the roller to my face and began to go back and forth about 6 to 10 times in the same spots, changing directions. I concentrated more on the problem areas the most. I barely pressed down at first. As I did it more often, I pressed down a little harder. But in the instructions, it does make you aware that the skin will become red and irritated looking. This is normal and make even look like a sunburn and feel that way too.
I had taken before and after photos and somehow I don't know what happened to them. If they got deleted or I just moved them somewhere and can't find the files. But I have to tell you my experience.
I started to use it and yes, my face started to turn red and I really felt the needles which made me uncomfortable. I tried my hardest to feel and stay calm during the process. However, when I started, just seconds in, I felt as if I was going to pass out. This happened every single time I would use it. I felt as if I was having an anxiety attack during the process and kept having to stop to not feel like I would pass out. Even though I was experiencing these symptoms, I continued to use the product. I used it for a few weeks. I have noticed a difference in my skin. Which was what I was hoping for. The scars on the sides of my face are a lot better looking and not as noticeable. The ones on my forehead will still need more work done with them. But the product does seem to have been working. I am actually surprised that I have finally found something that I have hope in.
So does it work? I believe it does. I will continue to use it and I hope with more time, I will get back the skin I have wanted for so long.

This sounds interesting and terrifying all at once :) I have terrible stretch marks from pregnancy... I wonder how well it would work on them?
ReplyDeleteI don't' know. I have heard people saying they have used it on stretch marks and felt no pain at all and it did show signs of looking better. I have yet to use it on other parts other than my face. But yes, it is scary. I am not sure why I feel like I'm about to pass out every time I use it. Once I can overcome that, I can go longer using it each session.
ReplyDeleteWow, pretty scary!! But i suppose when you compare it to cosmetic procedures and having things injected into your face it's much more low maintenance. I'm sorry you've felt this way, fortunately I've never experienced a lot of scarring but I did put up with constant acne on my face which left me feeling frustrating and hopeless every time I washed my face and looked in the mirror. I know we're supposed to be above it all but it really does get you down! Anyway, I heard once that 50% of pain is the anticipation of pain so mind over matter! You can do this! Maybe download some relaxing nature sounds app to play in the background?? :-)
ReplyDeleteGood luck!!

ReplyDeleteLooks very cool. I've never used this before, but I think it's definitely worth trying. I sure hope that it works. Thank you for sharing.
