Real Bug Dig It Out Science Kit Review

As a homeschooling parent, it's up to me to find the best teaching resources for my child. Something that is fun, educational and keeps her interest. That is when I came across the Dr. Cool Real Bug Dig Kit. I was super excited to be able to grab one for review. I knew my daughter would love the hands on learning from this.

It came at a perfect time too. As we were wrapping up our paleontology studies for science class, what better way to end the course than with this fun dig kit activity. She begged me non-stop to open it as soon as we pulled it out of the mailbox. As a second grader, she wants to be a paleontologist when she grows up.

Here is what their website says about the product:

Excavate 3 genuine bug specimens just like a real paleontologist. They’re each buried inside a beetle-shaped digging block! Your young entomologist will uncover a real scorpion, spiny spider, and fortune beetle specimen. These insects have been perfectly preserved inside acrylic so that you can examine each of these incredible creatures from all sides. This hands-on science kit includes an excavation tool, brush, and magnifying glass. There’s also a full-color information guide (written by teachers) so that you can learn all about insects, arthropods, and arachnids. You’ll learn cool science facts about each of the creatures in this kit as well as general info about bugs. Plus there’s an activity booklet with 10 fun games, mazes, and puzzles to complete. Your kids will bug-out with this fascinating excavation project!

So the digging began! My daughter was so excited and had loads of fun with this product. You should have heard her squeal every time she discovered a new bug hidden. It was really fun to watch her as well and see which bug she would find next.

Then after she uncovered all the bugs, it was time to look more closely at them. She used the magnifying glass that came with the kit and we read and discussed the different bugs from the books provided. She then worked on the activities in the other books that came along with it and it was a really fun learning activity overall.

My daughter loves showing everyone her new bugs and keeps them on her desk now to observe and look at more in her spare time. This was a really fun kit to incorporate with our school studies. If you would like to look into more about the Discover With Dr. Cool kits, click HERE to be taken to their main site. They have so many different fun science kits to choose from. There is something for everyone.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. This looks awesome! Kay loves digging for fossils and bugs, but of course she never really finds much. She'd love this.
