Discover Your Style Profile

So you all know that I have recently this year started to be really into Julep. I had seen so many people posting their lovelies all the time on their blog's and social media outlets and I was so jealous of how beautiful their nails were. I loved the colors, the polish bottles, and just how cute it all was.

In December I decided to jump in on it and I purchased one bottle from their site to try and fell in love with the color and the company in general. I then decided a couple of months later to jump in on their free box that they are offering to new customers. That was actually really exciting for me. After taking the Style Profile Quiz, I actually ended up with the Bombshell Welcome Box.

I really love Julep. In fact, I think I may be a little obsessed. I get super excited each month when the new boxes and colors are released. It's like Christmas every four weeks! LOL. But seriously, Julep is my favorite little obsession I have going on right now. So far, I have no complaints!
Interested in finding out which style fits you best? Take the Style Profile Quiz for yourself. If you like what you see, you can get one of Julep's free Maven Intro Boxes for $2.99 shipped. You can continue to receive the customizable Julep Maven box for $24.99 per month.  You can upgrade to $60 for 3-months, the “Maven Luxe” subscription, or cancel at any time by calling Julep’s customer service.  Use the code FREEBOX to select one of these kits. Each month new polishes and products are released for that month's theme.

I have posted a few of my boxes and/or polishes I have gotten each month from Julep. If you are curious to see some of my posts about these, you can start HERE

Up until now, Julep has always had pre-set boxes for you to choose from in each category. But for their June box, they introduced a few new things to make choosing your favorites even better! Not only did they finally release an app {available at the moment for Apple products only} to allow you to make your selection each month now, but also brought out a way to customize your boxes so you can now pick and choose which colors and products you would like to receive in your box.

So if you are in the mood to try out a new subscription box or just some new polish, check out their boxes. If you don't like what you got after the free intro box, you can cancel and no longer be obligated to purchase anything else. It's hard to pass up a deal that good for only $2.99 right? Try and it and see for yourself.

If you need another reason to join in, here are a few more:

- A fully customized monthly delivery of over $40 in nail polish and beauty products for $24.99 a month, or just $19.99 a month if you sign up for the 3 month option
- Flexibility to try one of five beauty styles each month or upgrade to get them all
- 20% off and free shipping on other products at
- Exclusive access to the Secret Store each month where some discounts go as high as 75% off
- First dibs on monthly Mystery Boxes
- Plus much more!

Ready to get started? Check it all out HERE. And don't forget to use the promo code FREEBOX for just $2.99 on your first box from Julep.

What Memorial Day Means To Me

Memorial Day was yesterday. Everyone was posting BBQ photos, pool party and having a great time overall photos. While it is nice to have a long weekend and get a break from some things in life, I was surprised when I asked a few friends what they thought of Memorial Day. I was a bit shocked that a lot of people thought Memorial Day was just a day to celebrate the end of the school year with one last long weekend before summer vacation started. A few had no idea it even had anything to do with military.

Memorial Day is a bit more special to me then some people I know. Being that I was born and raised in an all Army household. My mom and dad were both in the Army and when my mom got out, my dad was in it until I was a teenager. I got to travel the world and experience a lifetime worth of cultures and memories at such a young age. I appreciate my parents for giving me that opportunity to see the world because of the careers they chose.

When I was seven years old, we moved to Germany because of talk that the United States may be going to war. So my family, along with many others were shipped overseas. Not much later, the war broke out. We watched as all my friends dads and moms were packing up to be sent over to Saudi Arabia to fight in the Gulf War in the early 1990's. My dad was on the list to be shipped to war. It was hard to understand that I may not see my father ever again. The thought of my dad going to fight, shoot, and kill people and then possibly getting killed himself had our family crying so many nights.

My dad was a very important person in his group. He held certain codes and paperwork needed for war. Thus, we knew there was no way he could get out of it. He had to leave us and go. I'll never forget crying with my friends at school who had their parents already sent away to the Gulf. Being a child is hard during a time like that. I couldn't even imagine what my mother was feeling in her heart and stomach. I knew she was heart broken and so sad.

A few days before he was supposed to be on the plane and shipped off to war, he was suffering a lot of pain in his back. He went to the hospital to be checked out. It turned out he needed surgery and needed it right away. I remember so vividly visiting him after school each day after the operation. He was in so much pain. But that surgery saved his life. In many more ways than one. If it had not been for his surgery, he would have gone to war and I have no idea if he would have come back home to us.

My mom said that the officers got all the paperwork they needed from our house that he was supposed to take with him. They even tried to convince the hospital to let him be released because they needed him. My dad couldn't walk for months after his surgery so there was no way he could be out there fighting people.

My dad was lucky. However, some of my friend's were not. They lost their parents or other relatives in that war. It was a very sad time for everyone. I remember so many of my friends were absent from school and everyone seemed to know why but didn't talk about it. It finally calmed down after a while and life went back to normal. All of us kids were playing and having a great time as if nothing happened.

It wasn't that we were all those years sad and crying. Life went on like usual but when you would hear of someone not returning home, it was the worst feeling. It was also a bit confusing as a child as well. Why was there so much hate in the world that we had to fight and kill each other? My friends and I didn't understand. Now that I'm older, Memorial Day means so much more to me then buying beer and having a BBQ or getting 30% off a big screen tv. It means so much more. It's not a happy day. It's a day that I reflect back on the sadness of ones who lost their lives to protect this country and gave their all. It's a day to honor their memories and value life.

I appreciate everything my father did to sacrifice for myself, my family, my freedom. Even though we have our moments, my dad is a hero to me. He gave his all for 22 years to help protect our freedom. I'm so blessed everyday that he made it out of the Army alive and am proud to call him my solider, my father, my hero.

Thank you to him and the countless others who risk it all everyday.

Wedding Bands

If you weren't aware, the husband and I just celebrated our five year wedding anniversary together this year. It's been a long road with some ups and some downs. But one thing that I can say is that no matter what, we are trying for the long haul. Love can be a funny thing but it's worth it in the end.

As we have talked about how I fell in love with him and how the wedding took place, I would now like to discuss something about the most important piece of jewelry for any couple. These special pieces are none other than the wedding rings.

I was a bit curious to know about the latest trends of wedding bands and what is in demand and the band styles that people love. I chose to search them on internet and I was really glad to see so many online jewelry stores flooded with attractive bands. I kept on browsing and got the chance to explore so many stylish and attractive bands.

But, being true, my thirst for the bands which were beautiful and sober at the same time was not quenched till I came across the alluring world of wedding bands at I found some of the bands which are a jaw dropping beauty and I couldn't take my eyes off them.

The women’s wedding bands are glamorous and way too beautiful to resist. The men’s wedding bands are sophisticated and stylish. What I liked the most was the availability of bands in a number of gemstones. The designs and patterns are exclusive and you can give them a personal touch by getting them custom made.

To let their customers get the best deal, they run special offers on their social media pages. You can check them and enjoy flat discounts and freebies as well, by simply using the checkout codes provided on the Facebook page.

The feature that grabbed my attention was to get the bands engraved for free. You can choose to get your names, messages or special codes and symbols engraved to the chosen bands, which bear special meaning to the two of you. This service is provided free of cost to its customers.

Meet Chamel + A Giveaway

I am so excited to share with you one amazing and oh-so-fabulous woman here on the blog. If you don't know Chamel, you should!. She is not only awesome, but one of the most sweetest ladies I have gotten to know! I decided to ask Chamel some questions and of course, she was super sweet to answer all of them.

So I introduce to you Chamel of Chamel's Creations
:::: Getting to know all about Chamel ::::
I have to say, your name is beautiful. How was your name inspired by your parents?
My mother named me after a DJ....yep!  I guess she loved their music and the name! LOL  I must say that I'm very in tuned with music and dancing.

What got you started in blogging?
I started blogging February 2013 to capture my journey as a woman of God, wife, mother, and entrepreneur.  I must admit that I'm still learning about this whole world of blogging and I struggle with being consistent.  I've always seen my blog as an extension of my business and a great way to encourage and engage my customers and followers!
My goal is to be transparent and use my time God has given me here to make an impact on others: share my faith journey, encouragement through scripture, and capture my life and business adventures. As I mentioned, I'm not where I would like to be with my blogging but I'm looking forward to learning more and growing in this area!

Where did the idea of Chamel's Creations come from?
I have always thought of myself as a creative person and through the years have created many things for myself, family, and friends.  So I decided to share my work with others and started Chamel's Creations. My initial business ventures began more as a hobby/part-time selling custom handmade hair bows and accessories while working full-time as an computer engineer.  However, it has been a long time heart desire and dream to run my business full-time so that I could spend more time with my family, raise my children, and successfully run my own business that would help my family financially.
In 2011, through the premature birth of my youngest son (25 weeks and 1 lb and 9 ozs), jobless, and a new stay at home mom, God blessed me with the vision to use Chamel's Creations to encourage, inspire, and empower women through His word!  So my sewing adventures began and I started my Christian line of products.....I like to say...."handmade for his glory!"

In your shop, what would you say is your best selling item?
My sideways cross bracelets have been my best selling product and I love how the uniqueness of the hammered cross against the three coordinating silk ropes. A great way to wear and share your faith!  Checkout available color options here

In your shop, what would you say is your most favorite item and why?
My new favorite right now are my "Grace & Polka Dots" collection of wristlets! These colorful and functional beauties are great for on the go and to carry all of your must-have accessories!  The simplicity of the one word "grace" embellished wristlet reminds you that “[God's] grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” 2 Corinthians 12:9.  I must say that these lovely ladies are pretty sweet from the detailed top-stitching, designer polka dot fabric, metal brass YKK zippers, and satin lining!  Remind others of God’s grace and be fashionable doing it  Grab yours here

When you aren't behind a computer brainstorming your next post or your newest creation, what do you like to do?
I love spending time with my family!  I so love waiting for my hubby to get home and showering him with love and seeing my boys run to give him hugs!  Many of my days are filled with running behind two little energetic boys (5 and 2) and attempting to not step on toys!  I’m an SVU watching (Tuesday marathons), Sprite drinking, and chocolate addict!  Besides being creative, I enjoy Zumba or anything related to dancing.
Now that you've gotten a bit of background on who Chamel is, we aren't done just yet! Chamel is also offering all of you lovelies some amazing deals! Right now, you can score FREE SHIPPING with promo code XOXOFREESHIP. Mani Monday - Jamberry Nail Wraps

Hello lovely nail fanatics! Another week of Mani Monday is here.
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and now it's time to show off those nails!
I know I have been behind a few weeks on this. And I haven't meant to be.
Life happens, and I'm hoping to get this back and running more frequently again

There's a new trend going around the nail world right now. Have your heard of Jamberry Nail Wraps? They are one of the newest sensations for nail polish goers like myself. There are other brands out there that have produced similar wraps that I have tried. So I decided to try Jamberry out for myself.

What had drawn me to their site was the amazing selection that they offer. I have never seen such an array of selection before from any brand that offered nail wraps. There really is something for everyone. Even for kids as well. So I was contacted by the very lovely and sweet Ali to give them a try and see if I liked the wraps. So I took her offer and put them up to the test. I have only tried one other brand of nail wraps in the past so I am not an expert on these at all but I accepted the challenge :)

How you use a Jamberry Nail Wrap is pretty simple. Though I must admit, the application wasn't so horrible but I didn't have a heat source like the one recommended. I don't own a hair dryer, flat iron, or a space heater. But none the less, it's not too bad. This video from the website gives you a complete tutorial on application as well as the removal process

So what is supposed to be the secret behind why Jamberry Nail Wraps are great is because they are stronger and thicker than a lot of other nail wrap brands. I have to admit, they do seem a lot more sturdy then others I have tried. And they are supposed to last around 2 weeks, where nail polish doesn't last that long before it starts to chip or look ragged.

So I went ahead and painted my nails with two Julep polishes and then used the Jamberry Nail Wraps as well to give some fun accents on each hand. Now something a lot of people know about me, I never paint the same color on each hand. I always have two separate colors on my hands at all times.

Please excuse the different length of nails. I seem to always break my ring finger nail on both hands at the exact same time. So it looks a bit funny, but it will grow back soon. I hate when my nails are that short. Anyway, on this hand I decided to wear Julep's Bea as the base coat. And I tried Jamberry's Flirty Flair to accent on my ring and middle finger {again, I hate that my ring finger broke and is short..uh, it's driving me crazy}. And then on my pinky, I am using Jamberry's Lace Noir

And on the other hand.....

So again...I really hate that my ring finger nail is so much shorter. Blah! So on this hand, I decided to wear Julep's Something Blue from their wedding collection as my base coat. Then again for my pinky {like the other hand} I am using Jamberry's Lace Noir. The reason I used this one twice was because it's so lovely how its see-thru so you can see the polish right under it and really make it pop. I think this one is by far my favorite because of that. Then on my ring finger, I chose Jamberry's Pickled Paisley.

I was glad to be able to try these out because there has been so much talk about them all over different Facebook groups I am on. So are you ready to take the Jamberry Challenge? For the Challenge, put the Jams on one or two fingers on each hand and paint the rest of your nails with a favorite, coordinating polish.  Take a pic after you finish and take another pic at the 7 day mark (and some in between!) and compare the difference between your polish and your Jamberry Nail Wrap. Does it hold up? We shall see! I am on day four right now with these wraps and so far, so good.

Are you ready for the challenge? If you are interested in purchasing some Jamberry Nail Wraps for yourself {or a friend}, Ali has a special going on right now. If you purchase 3 wraps through her site HERE, you get one free. And if you do, you are also entered into a monthly drawing to win a set of free nail wraps.

Also, are not interested in trying before you commit to buying? You are in luck! Ali also is offering samples if you are wanting to try them out before you make a purchase. Just email her at and let her know you found her site through my blog and she will hook you up with everything you need to get going on some fabulous nails!

Don't Cry Over Spilled Polish Exchange

Welcome to the second round of Don't Cry Over Spilled Polish nail swap. The first time I hosted this, it was a great hit and successful. Not to mention really fun! So back by popular demand, is another round of it. Since we are saying goodbye to the cooler weather {some of us said goodbye a long time ago while a lot of us are just now feeling some warmer temps}, what would be more of a perfect theme than:

I would like to introduce the ladies bringing you this swap. Myself along with two other lovely bloggers {and great friends of mine} are going to make this a fun exchange!

With the theme April Showers Bring May Flowers, you are able to enjoy the beautiful spring weather. With those April showers behind us, we can now celebrate the beautiful May flowers and enjoy nature's wonderful bright and pretty colors. And nail polish is no exception when taking inspiration for this season.

So here's how it will work {the famous ten rules}:

1. Sign up below using the form between May 4th - May 10th.
2.  On May 11th, everyone will be paired with someone & notified via email who their swap buddies are.
3. Get to know your partner. You will have until May 31st to mail out your package to them.

7. Right now the swap will only be available to those in the US and Canada. Please note on the form below all the info about swapping internationally.
