Playful Planet Storyland Yoga DVD Review

Recently I was given the opportunity to review and discover the company Playful Planet. I was very excited as I knew my seven year old daughter would be in trying out yoga for the first time. I received  the Storyland Yoga DVD in exchange for my own views and opinions.

So what is Storyland Yoga all about?
Storyland Yoga is a fun-filled adventure that infuses children with an eco-conscious message. Two unique stories, Save the Whale and Condor Trek, engage a child's imagination through storytelling. Kid's learn yoga postures by becoming part of the story and imitating animals. Yoga is great exercise and helps to calm children, giving them greater focus and increased clarity. By connecting with nature and gaining respect for their own health and well being, children become empowered to create solutions for the health and sustainability of our planet. Storyland Yoga is equally fun for parents and family members who can benefit from yoga, while enjoying organic time with their children.

This DVD has lots of great instruction for children around the ages from 3-8 years of age. Though I am sure children a bit younger or older would love this as well. My daughter is 7 years old and so she fit in the category this DVD is geared toward.
Storyland Yoga provides two different stories for children that are based upon yoga poses for kids. There is Condor Trek and Save The Whale. Both tell a story that motivates children to listen and participate in the yoga movements all while having fun.

The menu lets you choose which story to do first. Each story and yoga class is instructed by Ahmed Fahmy. He involves the children in the DVD as well as encourages the children at home. My daughter honestly played this DVD over and over again doing all the different poses.

The poses are very simple and basic for children to understand. My daughter loved doing them. Throughout each story as well, there were animations to help tell the stories. She enjoyed it so much now she is asking for a yoga mat!

At the end of the two yoga videos, we clicked on the Special Features menu. There, you have to option of going through and learning the different yoga poses on their own without the story. Instead of the group of children, it featured one child. So it was like she was getting a one-on-one crash course in yoga posing. She enjoyed this as well.

Playful Planet's Storyland Yoga seems like a perfect fit in our lives and home. It was fun, easy, free-spirited, calming, and enjoyable. I would recommend this to all moms with children. I think everyone would benefit from doing the exercises on this DVD.

Interested in checking it out for yourself? Head over to Playful Planet now to purchase the DVD for your child. The retail price is $14.99 which gives you the entire DVD's two yoga story instructions, and also full of special features as well. However, you can purchase the videos separately if you choose for a discounted price.

  3. Very nice article. It helps kids to get involved in Yoga practice. Kids are generally ignore when we force them to do yoga. if we explains some yoga through stories. It will influence the kids to learn yoga.
