My Beauty Confession

A few weeks ago, I had posted on Facebook about what are your little dirty secrets when it comes to your beauty routine. Little did I know, that Maria from Agape Love actually hosted a link up all about this topic! Perfect!!! So I thought I would join in and post about my answer to my beauty confession.

Here is my beauty confession for this week:

I know what you are thinking...this is a BIG no-no!!!! I get so many hair dressers screaming at me and telling me how I'm destroying my hair. And I know I am. So if you are reading this and want to smack me...I understand. I get it so much when I tell people I brush while wet.

So before you start yelling and screaming at me for this..I apologize. I know how wrong it is and how damaging it can be. Well, not can be, how damaging it really is!

I know that if you are going to need to brush your hair while it is still wet, forget the brush and use a wide tooth comb. Wet hair is swollen hair and that means the strands are weak and extra-prone to breakage, so you’re causing havoc when you’re tugging your brush through them post-shower. And no one likes damaged hair.
So that is my beauty confession for the week. What is your beauty dirty little secret you have? Share your story & confessions by linking up. through the button below.

  1. Its funny you said brush, I don't even own a brush but I have caught myself using a skinny tooth comb to comb my hair which is a big no no especially with natural hair.

    1. My daughter is mixed and so she can't really use a brush like mine either. So I can understand where you are coming from. We tried the small combs on her hair and yes, it was a disaster LOL

  2. I have never ever heard of this before! I ONLY brush my hair when its wet. Its the only time I CAN brush it or else it goes crazy. I brush it right after I towel dry it first thing after my shower. And its still nice and smooth from conditioning. :) So I never seem to lose hair while its wet. So weird... Want a laugh? Check out this video to show just WHY i dont ever brush my hair after it dries: http://www.keek.com/!Fy7zdab :)

    So glad you linked up!

    1. I am actually surprised you never have. I am going to check out the video for sure!
But yes, I have been scolded my entire life from professional people in the salon business for brushing while wet. It really is super damaging. They always tell me if you have to, use a big comb. Not a brush. But I seem to have very thick hair so I don't lose hair either while brushing while wet ,,,which I'm thankful for. But it really is a big no no and I still hate getting yelled at about it LOL

  3. I use a wide tooth comb only because I have naturally curly hair and can't get a brush through my hair!

My beauty confession is that I hardly ever remember to wash my face before bed, even when I've been wearing makeup that day. I know, its terrible for my skin. Ugh. ;)

    1. I am so bad about washing my face as well. I forget way too often and with makeup on as well. It's so bad and yet, I still just do it anyway

  4. I used to do this little bad habit too but right after I found out that it's unhealthy for the hair, i stopped it. By the way, I came here from Love.Post.Blog facebook group. I'm your newest follower on GFC. Have a nice day! :)

    1. Thank you for stopping by! And yes, I do don't do it as often anymore and more careful but it is pretty much one of the worst habits I have in beauty. I am surprised a lot of people haven't heard of this. I always get scolded.

  5. Thanks for sharing this; I really never knew this was so bad. I usually don't brush it wet anyway, but only because I am losing so much hair I don't brush it much at all. But i'm glad I know this now, I need all the help I can get in the hair department.

    1. I'm really bad at hair care as well. I don't know anything about hair actually. I only know this because they throw it in my face every time. But I was actually surprised by the number of people who said they didn't know. But of course, I didn't either at one point. I think that is why I stopped going to get my hair cut LOL

  6. I thought you weren't supposed to brush it dry! hmm.. Now I'm confused haha

    1. I think you are supposed to have it slightly damp. As if you just misted dry hair with a spray bottle. But I have been told not to even own a brush and just throw it away and use a wide toothed comb. But of course, I am stubborn and still brush it wet. I know my hair probably has lots of damage and split ends. Luckily, I haven't seen it fall out {only after pregnancy when you shed like crazy LOL}.. I am not an expert at all on hair. I don't even own a blow dryer {don't even ask me why}. I'm pretty..no. I'm terrible when it comes to hair care LOL

  7. I brush my hair wet and *gasp* often forget to take make up off before I got to bed when I have been out all day and am too lazy and tired to take it off. thankfully bare minerals actually is so gentle its never caused an issue. in fact its cleared up my skin several times.

    1. I bought bare minerals once. And I had to throw it all away. I was highly disappointed with it. It did not do well on me at all. It caused me to break out so bad and looked so horrible.
I was so mad cause I spent a lot of money on it but it just doesn't like my skin at all and I do not have sensitive skin. It's been the only makeup so far that I found I cannot wear. But I'm glad it works for you. I wish I had better luck with it but sadly I don't.

    2. What a bummer. it is the only make up that works for me. :( I hated liquid make up and was so glad to find this stuff. it is funny how people react differently to everything.

    3. Yea it was a bummer cause I was totally excited. I actually don't ever wear any foundation because I still can't find one I like. I normally use a powder and then a bronzer on top. My makeup routine pretty much goes all toward my eyes. I normally really only do that. I wish I could find a good foundation that I liked. But sometimes I use MAC if I need to wear some but I hardly ever do

  8. It's your hair Rebecca and it never looks bad so I see no issue with this!

    1. LOL you are sweet. I think it's just the damage you can't see that they tend to throw in your face. I don't know. I just know it's the one thing I am always getting scolded for when I go have my hair cut haha I think this is why I stopped going

  9. When I do wash it, depending on my level of laziness I would just brush it up in a high bun. I know it's not good for your hair but who has time to comb all that out?

  10. You're not alone! I use a wide tooth comb too. Sometimes I wait an hour for it to "dry" before I brush it.
