Some people may find it crazy that my children have never seen the season of "Fall" before. But it's not as crazy as you may think. It's true though. This is the very first year my children will experience fall and my daughter {who just turned seven years old} has been asking so many questions about it. It's so new and different to her.
She has never seen trees turn colors or lose their leaves and become bare and dead-like. She has never played in a pile of leaves on the ground. She has never been in cool, fall weather before. I have not seen fall since I was 18 years old. That was thirteen years ago. And I am not used to it at all. Having lived in Florida for so long, you don't get the seasonal change like you do here in Missouri.
So it's a huge difference of a world to us now. No one is prepared for this in our family. We have not been in cold weather in so long. It's not an easy transition at all. But we are trying to make the best of it. My daughter really loves looking at the trees and the all the beautiful colors that have formed.

Do your children like fall or has your children been like mine and has never had the chance to experience the season before? There are a lot of other things that we get to look forward to as well that I will be talking about. Like winter...my children have never seen snow before and I can't wait to see their faces when it happens to start snowing.
Me too! Growing up in a tropical country, we only had two seasons. Sunny and rainy. I had to go to Korea to experience the season of Fall. It was very perdy! My first great North American winter will be coming up soon too!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful trees! This is also my sons' first fall since we moved from Hawaii, but it is my first fall in Oklahoma and I have to say I GREATLY miss the beautiful fall leaves of North Carolina. There's not a whole lot of trees in the plains.
ReplyDeleteThat is so fun that she is old enough to understand and truly be able to appreciate something that everyone else takes for granted. I hope she has an incredible first fall, full of pumpkins, changing leaves, and chilly weather!

I love Fall, and getting out the cozy clothes. Pumpkin flavored everything, beautiful leaves, and chilly weather. I hate Winter though! By the time Spring comes, I am so desperate for that warm weather!!
ReplyDeleteI actually think after not living through Fall before it'll be a pretty cool experience actually, even though the cold weather will be noticeable for her, so cool though.
ReplyDeleteI remember the first time Lyla was old enough to know/realize what snow was! So fun. Right now in preschool they're learning about all things fall and she thinks it's pretty cool.
