Six Months Pregnant

Funny how fast this pregnancy seems to be going. Usually, it feels forever!!! Not this time though. In the beginning it did, but now thinking that we only have three months left to prepare for this little boy or girl...well, it's becoming a bit overwhelming. I won't lie.

So, looking at the above image, I have really seemed to pop! Literally, remember my previous posts where I didn't even look pregnant? Well, it seems to be all filling out now. I have really put on the belly since last month. In case you missed previous photos and updates, you can click HERE to see how my belly has been growing.

So far in the 24 weeks of being pregnant, I have gained a total of 7 pounds. I'm a bit embarrassed by that number as I didn't want to gain that much this early. I was hoping to have gained only 10 pounds total by the end of the pregnancy. I have been trying hard to stay fit this time around and not gain any unnecessary weight. I have been eating healthy, organic, and good for the most part. Some snacks here and there.
I have been trying to stay fit by exercising and taking long walks or being out walking all day with the kids. If I am in the house, I am up cleaning, which gives a good workout. I am just hoping to not go overboard on the weight gain. I feel like a huge fat whale already. And that doesn't make me happy. Though I was reassured by the doctor my weight is fine, I still am trying to keep this all under control. I don't believe in the "because I am pregnant, I can gain as much as I want or eat whatever I want" philosophy. I need to be strict with myself and make sure baby is getting everything it needs to grow healthy and for me to stay healthy and fit as well.

Not knowing the gender is so much fun for me and I normally have these funny feelings about what the baby is {and I have so far been always right}. However, this time, I have not had those "special feelings". I have no idea in my heart, what this baby will turn out to be. A boy or girl. I have expressed in my last posts that I am secretly wanting another girl. It would be fun to have my children alternate since we had a girl first, then a boy, and I would like a girl this time around. But whatever the baby gender is, I am going to be so happy and overjoyed no matter what!

For most pregnant women, this is not a milestone for them at the number of weeks I am. Most women have felt kicks about ten weeks ago. Well, this is a huge thing for me. I have never been able to feel the baby move with my other pregnancies until after the 30 week mark. And yet, at 23 weeks, I started to feel little movements. I was a bit shocked. The kicks aren't big but I feel them every now and then. It amazes me that I am feeling them this early. It's a sign that everything is going ok in there with baby!

Overall, my six month appointment went very well. My blood pressure is perfect! And my weight is perfect {though not to me, but what can ya do?} The ultrasound from last month, everything looks perfect with baby and no concerns. I have no complaints or issues going on with my body or the pregnancy. It's pretty much just been an easy ride at this moment. {Can't say that for the beginning of it with all the morning sickness}.
I was told by the doc that if my only complaint in my pregnancy right now is my son won't allow me to get enough sleep {he's 10 months old}, then I am doing phenomenal! So that's good to hear.
He said that I have about a 1% of any complications during this pregnancy and that any chance of needing any emergency help {like a c-section, diabetes, etc} would be in the 1% range as well. I'm pretty much as healthy as I can be. And that's what I like to hear....

My next appointment is scheduled for the end of October which will be my seven month appointment. After that, I will be going every two weeks instead of four. So that will be my 28 week appointment and that is when the overly dreaded glucose test will be conducted....dun dun dun                                                                                                                                                     Seriously, though.....it's not as bad as many people make it out to be. They gave me the drink now and keep it at home to take while at home and then come back the end of October and not have to sit and wait an hour in the waiting room. I can drink it at home and then wait around here and then be there and see the lab specialist right away.                                                                                                                                                                     The worst part about it is the blood being drawn. I hate needles. I hate them so much. So this part I hate a lot. But I have never had a test come back bad or scary during any of my pregnancies when it came to this one. So I am not worried. I just have to drink, suck it up, and not cry like a little baby while they stab me with a needle.                                                                                                                                                                                               So for right now, the drink sits on top of the refrigerator so that my daughter doesn't think it's juice or something to get her hands on. That would not be good at all! I can see a huge disaster if that ever were to happen.

That's enough with the baby chit-chat. Until next month....this update is signing off....though don't think you won't be hearing non-stop on the blog about preggo things :) Remember, I have a six year old and a ten month old....baby talk will be told! LOL Later lovelies!

  4. You are the cutest pregnant lady ever. I think it's fun you haven't found out the gender. I wasn't that patient-always wanting a girl (but had boys x4!)

  8. Congratulations, and glad all seems to be going well. I hated the glucose drink, but mostly because at my office, they time you and watch you drink it. Honestly, I wouldn't ever cheat the system for my baby's health, but I am very bad under pressure!

  9. Congratulations! I remember the good ol' glucose test. I actually really enjoyed it. I had the fruit punch flavored one and had no problem getting it down in the 2 mins I was given to drink it. I'm due in about 2 weeks and I am so ready! Its nice to reminisce of the stage of pregnancy that your at though, because that's when all the excitement really starts!

Good luck and I look forward to following you during this special time!

  15. You look so cute and are totally all belly! Hope the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly. As much as I hated being pregnant (I was sick every day), the one part that I miss is feeling her movement and kicking. What an amazing sensation. I also miss the elastic pants, so I guess that is two things. :)
