Take a look at this:
Yea, that’s right. Its been ten years. Ten long years. Or so it seems :0)
We met ten years ago tonight. It was at the first party of the school year of my freshman year of college. My sorority sisters dragged me to a party I did not want to go to and if I hadn’t gone, things would have been different. Earlier that morning, school was canceled due to Tropical Storm Gabrielle hitting us pretty hard. It flooded the campus and left us without power for 3 days. My first Tropical Storm/Hurricane I had ever been through.
I went to this party just to go and somehow, I met the man I was going to end up marrying. One of my sorority sister’s boyfriends went up to him for me to ask him if he would be interested in coming over and taking to me. He said yes and we walked around talking. Went to his place, then back to mine and it was so crazy trying to think of what to talk about or do with no power or water flooding the rooms. I remember every detail of that night. And ever since then, we have been seeing each other.
Granted we have only been married for 2.5 years, we have been together for ten years now. That baffles me. I can’t believe that. It seems like such a long time. Definitely have been easy. This relationship has been hard as hell. We bash heads. We are completely different people. We seriously, are two completely different people. I can’t stress that enough. We have so many views that butt heads and almost all the time don’t agree and argue and fight.
But you know what? We can’t live without each other. There is an attraction that has kept us together. And Even though all the hurt, the fights, the nagging, the bitching, the complaining…. there are so happy moments in there as well. I hope it doesn't take another ten years to try and understand each other more, but I am trying. But I love him and he loves me and that’s all that matters. Through the good and the bad. Nothing is perfect. I’m kinda of surprised we have made it this long. But I’m happy that we have. And I can’t wait until I get to say we have been married for ten years.
