MY Konjac Sponge Bamboo Charcoal Facial Sponge Review

I am sure you have been hearing about the whole Konjac Sponge craze. I hear and see things about it daily. I had always wondered what was so special about these? Are they magically sponges? How do they work? What do they do?

If you haven't seen or heard of them before, this is mine I received.

There is actually a variety of them to choose from. However, I was given the Bamboo Charcoal one for this review. So what exactly is this crazy looking product?

MY Konjac Sponge is the highest quality konjac sponge in the market. Our products are proudly carried by Whole Foods Market, King's Food Market and major online retailers.

MY Konjac Sponge are made exclusively with the konjac fiber, a pure vegetable fiber taken from the root of the Amorphophallus Konjac plant.
Konjac plant, also known as konnyaku potato or elephant yam, is a plant that is native to eastern Asia. Konjac root is rich in minerals, vitamins, and it has been traditionally used as a beauty treatment for a long time in eastern Asia.

MY Konjac Sponge is made to the very highest of standards, using the purest volcanic rock filtered water and food grade konjac. All of our products are hypoallergenic & fragrance free.  All of our products are never tested on animals, and they carry the Vegan Society logo as well as Leaping Bunny logo, the highest standard of cruelty-free status in the cosmetics industry.
So I took it out of the package. It is a fairly big sponge. Fit the size of my hand and was hard and porous looking.

The directions say to run it under water until it become soft. So that is exactly what I did. It instantly became soft in a couple of seconds. I didn't know what to expect. I assumed it would have to sit and soak a bit to get flexible but it was almost instantly.

Then it said to rub on your face in a circular motion. I was trying to read on the package if you used it with anything or not. But it didn't say. So I just used it plain on a clean face. I found out later after looking up some other reviews on this that you could use it with a cleanser or just alone as I did.

So once you you are finished, rinse out the sponge again with water and squeeze out. Hang to dry. This product can last about two to three months. Once it starts to look as though it is tearing a bit, it's time to throw away and purchase a new one.

So my thoughts on this interesting sponge? Well, I must say it was an interesting experience. When the sponge got wet, it felt like a squishy marshmallow sort of thing. If that even makes any sense LOL. But it was very soft. When I applied it to my skin and started to rub around, cleansing my face, it was soft and did not feel uncomfortable in the least of sorts.

I did not notice any fragrance which I shouldn't have because it claims to be fragrance-free. So it passed that test. After I was finished, my skin did feel smoother. A lot smoother. I have been meaning to exfoliate for a few days now and have been really noticing the rough spots. But I was really surprised that something so gentle was able to take care of all those issue for me.

So overall what would I say? I would say this product is pretty good. It works as promised and is very gentle, even for those with the most sensitive skin. I love that it's vegan and all natural. And for the price, it's not going to break the bank to replace when needed.
