From Bridesmaid Dress To Weekend Outfit

How many times have you heard someone say, "I'll never be able to wear that dress again" while being a bridesmaid in a wedding? But those days are over. Nowadays, bridesmaids dresses are not what they used to be. There is literally thousands of cool, fun, fresh, modern styles to choose from. The hard part is picking one. But what happens after the wedding?

Let's face it. We all know that weddings do not come cheap. No matter how small of detail. I know many brides out there were like me. Trying to find everything that was perfect, but very much affordable and in my budget. It would have been great to be a billionaire while wedding planning. But the reality was, I wasn't. So I had to be smart.

I wanted my bridesmaids to look great. I wanted them to feel great. I didn't want them to be put into some dress they hated and would never wear again. Why spend so much money on a dress that they didn't love as well? They were the ones having to look at that dress for the rest of the time they owned it.

I let my girls choose their own dresses. I know not every bride does that, but a lot also do. So what happens to that dress? Shouldn't it be able to be a dress that can be worn again, and not just for a wedding? Of course it should be. My bridesmaids dresses were black. I chose black for my wedding because it was a very classic color that complimented any other color and I wouldn't have to look back on my wedding and see photos of the dresses and think to myself, "what was I thinking of choosing those colors?"

If I were a bridesmaid right now and I was given the option to choose my own dress, I would probably go with something like the Alfred Sung D596 dress from Weddington Way
This dress screams classic to me. And not only that, it also seems to be flattering to a lot of different body types. Plus, I always am thinking, "what could I do with this dress afterwards? How could I wear this dress out and it not look like it belongs in a wedding?"
This dress would be fun to spruce up into a fun weekend outfit. Black and red are pretty popular this time of year. Taking the basic bridesmaid dress and accessorizing it with a red belt around the waist. Let's not forget the jacket. A fun pattern to give it some character.

Pull back that hair in a loose ponytail that says stylish, yet flirty and fun. Strike up a bit of sass with a sleek headband. Grab a bracelet and your favorite pair of sunglasses. Let's not forget the shoes. Comfortable shoes are key to going out. Flats are perfect because they can say comfort while making the dress more casual and less formal.

A fun hat and purse will really make the dress less "wedding" like. Finally, snap on a fun case onto your phone and grab that sassy umbrella and you are on your way from "bridesmaid" to "watch out weekend, here I come!"

There are so many ways to make a formal affair dress into something you can wear again. The possibilities are endless. What combinations would you go with to change a bridesmaids dress into something you could rock the town in?

Celebrity Monogram Necklace Review + Discount

Being a mother is sure a crazy spin. I have three kids and I adore each one today more than yesterday. I'm always wondering how can I keep my children close to my heart at all times through something wearable. A lot of people have their children's names tattooed on their bodies. I'm not the tattoo kind of gal. And having a bracelet, ring or necklace with all three names would be a bit bulky or odd looking I imagine.

So what were my options? I wanted something that showed each child was special to me. I couldn't choose just one name to pick out for a piece of jewelry to wear. That wouldn't be fair. Then the greatest thing came along. I was really excited to be contacted by

to receive a necklace to try out for all you lovely people. MyNameNecklace.com has some beautiful jewelry. I can't lie about that. The pieces are stunning. So of course, I was uber excited to look around their site. They offer a wide collection of personalized jewelry such as Monogram Necklaces, Name Necklaces and Engraved Jewelry.

I fell in love with the Celebrity Monogram Necklace in Sterling Silver immediately. My eyes were glued to it. It was so pretty. Since it was a monogram, the first though that came to my mind was my name and initials. And then that thought left after two seconds. Then I thought, perfect!!! I can use one of my children's names. But then, which name? I didn't want to exclude anyone but I really wanted the necklace.

That is when my eight year old daughter {who was also looking at the site with me} said out loud, "Why don't you use the first letter of each of our names?"

My mind was blown! I thought what an amazingly brilliant idea. I have three children and there are three spots available for lettering. She is a genius I tell ya :) So I got to work writing down their initials in different orders to see which one looked the best on the necklace. Since it was going to be a beautiful script font, I wanted to make sure it all fit together nicely.

After a little while, I was set on what I wanted. I just needed to place my order and wait. I was so excited and was all giddy when it finally arrived. When I opened the package, I found a cute little white box with a bow on it.
{please excuse the bad lighting in the photos}
I decided to go with the letters "RNL". I placed the "N" in the middle as the biggest because my first born child is named Natalya. Then to the left is the "R" for Reggie Jr. since he was my second. And to the right is the letter "L" for Larissa which is my youngest child.

I am very much in love with this necklace and wear it everywhere I go.
I now have all three children close to my heart even when they are not with me. My daughter loves this necklace as well. She tells me everyday that it was a good idea to place all three names onto it. And I tell her she did a good job :)

The Celebrity Monogram Necklace is a great gift for yourself or someone you care about. And if it's not your style, there are other very beautiful styes of necklaces or other jewelry to choose from.

Right now, all my readers can get a 10% discount off of any of the jewelry on found on MyNameNecklace.com just by using the code: REBECCA at checkout.
If you have ordered one, let me know what one you own.

Your One Stop Guide to Looking Great for the Christmas Party Season

With the holidays right around the corner, most likely you got a few holiday parties to which you've been invited. Perhaps you're even thinking about throwing your own holiday party with your family and friends. Either way, with all the pictures and selfies that are sure to be taken at these parties, of course you'll want to look your best. Here are a few sure-fire tips to get you look amazing for your next round of holiday parties.

Invest in New Outfits

The Christmas season isn't just an excuse to shop for others, but for yourself as well. After all, you don't want to be seen wearing the same outfit to multiple parties. Allow yourself to shop for great looking holiday-appropriate outfits. Some options to consider include thermal leggings under a long-sleeved dress or a long blouse, an argyle sweater vest over a button-up shirt with dark-wash skinny jeans, or even a cozy turtleneck sweater with some dress pants. Oh, and don't forget the shoes! You never know how much snow you'll be trudging through on the way to and from those holiday parties, so consider picking up a pair of waterproof knee-high boots to go with those leggings or skinny jeans. You can always bring along a pair of ballet flats to change into once you arrive.

Accessorize

No Christmas outfit is complete without the right accessories. Depending on what outfit you're wearing, you may want to pick up some earrings, necklaces, bracelets, and rings to go with your new outfits. Pearl jewellery is especially beautiful around Christmas time, but you don't have to get that fancy. In fact, you can find all kinds of fun, Christmas-themed accessories (such as earrings that look like little gift boxes) at your local mall.

While you're thinking of accessories, don't forget a bottle of wine or two! If you're invited to a holiday party, it's always nice to bring a small gift. And you can't go wrong with wine. If you're hosting, consider asking your guests to bring beverages and/or appetizers to cut down on your cooking responsibilities.

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to go about making sure you look your absolute best at your next holiday party, whether you're attending as a guest or hosting. Above all else, though, it's important to have a little fun.

Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows Review

I have to tell you, I have tried a lot of different makeup products. But, up until now, I had yet to try anything for my eyebrows. And for the longest time, I never thought I needed to. And lately, I've been noticing after having my third child, that my eyebrows have been really thinning out. And that was a frowny face for me.

But that was when I got excited to try out the Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows product. I have to admit, I was a bit scared of trying it. I didn't want to goof up & make myself look like a clown. That wouldn't look very natural. And I want my eyebrows to look as naturally full as possible.

I received the Paula Dorf's 2 + 1 for Brows in Brunette which is used to create perfect looking brows that last all day! 2 flattering colors + 1 light wax = natural-looking brows. This trio creates a perfect color match and fills in any missing hairs or imperfections for brows that last all day. I also received a Paula Dorf Perfect Brow Brush to try out all together.

The item is a great size for a full sized product. It seems to be big enough to last for a long while. Which is great when you are using the product every day or every other day. To use, just dip the Paula Dorf Brush into brow powder to pick up the color then dip the brush into the wax and apply to brows.

So here is some {not the best} photos...{thanks to the horrible lighting}. Please forgive!

As you can tell, my eyebrows are starting to look like they are just uneven and thinning out. As I stated above. So I have hated them since they started to lose their fullness.

After trying the product, I was really happy with the results.

Of course with practice, I will get better. But I'm happy with how it came out. And each time I do this, I will get better. But you can instantly see a difference in the fullness. There are no more gaps or thin spots in the hairs. It was really easy to brush on and get the achieved look.

The contoured brush really help keep the shape of the brows and not look fake or overdone. It really helped easily sweep through the hairs and cover the areas that needed more coverage. And it really does last all day without looking flaky or start fading away.

Looking for a new brow product to try out? Right now if you purchase the Paula Dorf 2+1 For Brows product, you can also get a free brush {valued at $24}. The 2+1 product comes in four colors. You are sure to find the right shade for you.

Head over to the Paula Dorf website and use code BROWBRUSH to received your free brush with purchase.

Real Bug Dig It Out Science Kit Review

As a homeschooling parent, it's up to me to find the best teaching resources for my child. Something that is fun, educational and keeps her interest. That is when I came across the Dr. Cool Real Bug Dig Kit. I was super excited to be able to grab one for review. I knew my daughter would love the hands on learning from this.

It came at a perfect time too. As we were wrapping up our paleontology studies for science class, what better way to end the course than with this fun dig kit activity. She begged me non-stop to open it as soon as we pulled it out of the mailbox. As a second grader, she wants to be a paleontologist when she grows up.

Here is what their website says about the product:

Excavate 3 genuine bug specimens just like a real paleontologist. They’re each buried inside a beetle-shaped digging block! Your young entomologist will uncover a real scorpion, spiny spider, and fortune beetle specimen. These insects have been perfectly preserved inside acrylic so that you can examine each of these incredible creatures from all sides. This hands-on science kit includes an excavation tool, brush, and magnifying glass. There’s also a full-color information guide (written by teachers) so that you can learn all about insects, arthropods, and arachnids. You’ll learn cool science facts about each of the creatures in this kit as well as general info about bugs. Plus there’s an activity booklet with 10 fun games, mazes, and puzzles to complete. Your kids will bug-out with this fascinating excavation project!

AWARDS WON: Brain Toy Gold Award - Academic's Choice 2013

So here is what the packaging looks like on the front and in the inside
And once we opened it up, we found a bunch of fun things all inside waiting to be used.

  • This hands-on dig kit contains a genuine spiny spider, fortune beetle, & scorpion preserved in acrylic
  • Kit includes digging tool, brush and magnifying glass and is a great way to start an insect collection
  • Perfect gift for any kid aged 6-12 that is interested in bugs, science, entomology, or paleontology
  • The 12-page info guide is filled with cool science facts about insects and was written by teachers
  • Activity booklet contains 10 wonderful puzzles and games for hours of extra fun and learning
So the digging began! My daughter was so excited and had loads of fun with this product. You should have heard her squeal every time she discovered a new bug hidden. It was really fun to watch her as well and see which bug she would find next.

Then after she uncovered all the bugs, it was time to look more closely at them. She used the magnifying glass that came with the kit and we read and discussed the different bugs from the books provided. She then worked on the activities in the other books that came along with it and it was a really fun learning activity overall.

My daughter loves showing everyone her new bugs and keeps them on her desk now to observe and look at more in her spare time. This was a really fun kit to incorporate with our school studies. If you would like to look into more about the Discover With Dr. Cool kits, click HERE to be taken to their main site. They have so many different fun science kits to choose from. There is something for everyone.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

The Nail Files - The Bikini Zone

Hello beautiful people out there in blog land!  It's another Friday and another round of The Nail Files with Jennie. I totally love this link up. Anywho, let's begin with what I'm wearing this week on the nails.

I went to Ulta this week and picked up two new colors. So I decided to try one of them out for you all. This week's pick was OPI Brazil Collection Nail Lacquer, Next Stop.. The Bikini Zone.

So I don't normally buy OPI polish. I'm such a Julep snob that I don't venture out usually with other brands anymore. But I really wanted to try this color. I have to say, my camera coudln't capture what it really looks like in person. I have such crappy lighting in the bathroom. But it has a more lilac tone to it in person.
I was really glad to have picked this up. I was unsure when I saw the bottle but once I put it on, I knew it was a keeper. It looks metallic which I like. Almost like that "foil" effect that was really popular this summer.
