Hot Trends to Incorporate into Spring Weddings

Hot Trends to Incorporate into Spring Weddings
Post written by Mindy Virdee
Springtime is the season in which fresh sunlight makes icicles melt and buds poke through the soil; trees’ blooms open up, releasing an undeniably intoxicating scent; and warm rays and cool breezes mix to create the seemingly perfect temperature. What better time is there to celebrate a new chapter of your life with a wedding?
Here are a few trends to consider when planning your springtime nuptials:
Pantone color palettes: Pantone released its list of “it” colors for spring, and the highlights include hemlock green, sand, freesia yellow, violet tulip, radiant orchid, cayenne red, dazzling blue, celosia orange, Paloma gray and placid blue. These hues cover a vast array of intensities; if you do pick one of the vibrant pigments, subdued it with one of the softer tints in order to capture spring’s feminine, gentle essence.
Parisian Style- NY Bridal Week showed huge Parisian influence this year. Long dramatic veils, simple tied bouquets of single bloom styles, antique jewelry and hair accents, and lace accented dresses ruled the runway. Click here for stunning examples of Parisian jewelry styles.

Rustic Barn Elegance-Barn weddings are hugely popular right now, as they provide a beautiful rustic background for both formal and informal affairs. Plus, they provide the added bonus of giving your event shelter from those pesky April showers.  Food is highlighted on stylishly set buffet tables sparkling beneath canopies of twinkle lights. Rustic wood chairs, and tables are draped with lace accents to create the perfect combination of rustic elegance. This environment is especially accommodating to another bridal trend of having a shorter gown. Not only does this allow you to move freely without a heavy train dragging along the ground, but it enables you to show off cute footwear like cowboy boots. To make sure that you don’t become cold in the springtime air, consider wearing a sweater, shawl or jacket. You can find cover-ups specifically designed to harmonize with your bridal gown from wedding dress stores like David’s Bridal and Tulip Bridal.

Casual Vintage Vineyard- For the perfect blend of refinement with natural beauty, couples are increasing finding their Eden in vineyards. Guests dine on local food, small plates or buffet style- that is complemented by in-vineyard wines, served at table. Customized bottles of the vineyard’s signature blend also double as much appreciated guest favors. Wine corks, bundled in ribbons of the wedding colors, serve as place card holders. Color palettes can enchant with blush and champagnes that are accented by muted gold, merlots and cherry are set off by pale gray or lime. Instead of overloading on flowers, let the land’s prettiness shine with attractive candles.
Play with flowers: Springtime is when nature awakens, so let this echo in your floral arrangements. Don’t worry if arrangements or bouquets are not 100% perfect; let their innate prettiness work its magic with a bunches that are looser and a tad bit wild. Ladylike blooms like peonies, lilacs, ranunculus and clematis will all look lovely; for a bit of earthiness, mix in greenery like ferns.
The most important thing to remember when planning your wedding is to stay true to your wishes. If something seems out of the ordinary, but you love it, go for it. These choices, that are uniquely yours, are what will really make your springtime wedding feel like your special day.

Mani Mondays First Link-Up

Hello lovelies! Today I decided to start my own nail polish link up. I've been linking up to other blogger's weekly hops and so I decided to start my own. Since I'm such a huge fan of nail polish {the obsession has grown just recently and I love it}, why not allow everyone else to share with me their fun nails [or nail products] as well. And so that is how Mani Mondays was born.

Because I just posted on Friday my Valentine nails, I am going to just post a few Valentine inspired looks I love from Pinterest [in case you weren't sick of Valentines Day already]

CaraBox Reveal : Winter Theme {Shine}

In case you are not familiar with the CaraBox Exchange is, head over to KAITLYN's blog and see what it's all about. This was my first time participating and I had been wanting to for months and months but never joined in until now.

This season's theme was shine and also this time around, everyone was paired up with someone from their own state. So I sent my box to a lovely girl named Cassie who actually lives here in the same city as me. So I got lucky and could physically drop off my package to her which was also sort of neat to make a friend who lives close by. She is not a blogger [but a former blogger].

My other swap partner is Chloe and she blogs over at all that good stuffShe was who sent a package to me. I received it the other day and was very excited to open it. So here is what was in my box from her:

:::: The Break Down ::::

1. a travel mug that reads "hello gorgeous" & has an attached mirror. too cute! now i'll always have an excuse to look at myself

2. maybelline baby lips limited edition lip balm in quenched & peach kiss

3. A beautiful hard cover journal with lots of pages to jot down my thoughts in.

4. A starbucks gift card. since i have never had, nor ever tried, coffee in my life, maybe this will be an excuse to finally cross that one off my list sometime.

5. sally hansen salon effects polish strips in glitz blitz. i am so excited to give these a go. the glitter totally screams to me "wear me, i'm shiny!" LOL

6. sinful colors nail polish in thimbleberry. I put this color on and it is a very nice, rich coral color. a very summer, flowery feel to it.

7. an inspirational magnet to put up on the fridge for those moments when I need a little pick-me-up.

So thank you Chloe for a wonderful box and a lot of great goodies to use up now! Can't wait to join back up again in the future.

Nails - Little Heart

Another Friday, another nail post. I love nail polish. It's so amazing how such a small bottle of color can quickly turn into a giant obsession. That's the story of my life right now. Obsessed over nail color.

So because it is Valentine's Day, I decided to put together a simple little look that is subtle, yet fun for the occasion. So here it is. I call this look: Little Heart

I used the OPI {Bubble Bath} color as my base for all my nails. The I applied Julep {Love} to one finger. I couldn't get a great photo of it. But the colors really pop in real life. The {Love} polish is more golden then what it shows up in the photo as. But it is what it is. And finally I used Sally Hansen's {Heart Of Stone} to create a little heart over the Julep polish.

Did you get nail creative for today? Linking up with:

Drink & Be Merry!

Now, this is not my invention and I totally with it were. It's so cute and amazing. But the genius behind these amazingly cute drinks is Cocktails By Cody. Totally creative and a great twist to turning your drinks into your favorite Disney character.

Cody is a mixologist based in Spokane, WA. If you wish to contact him to cater, you can contact him through email or phone. All info is located on his Facebook page. If I lived near there, I would totally do this.

So here are some of the photos he is sharing on his Facebook of the drinks he has come up with. All rights to the drinks themselves, and the recipes involved, are owned by him. The photos being shared are his as well. I just thought these were too pretty and creative not to share.

Aurora's drink is a light, sweet, tropical flavored martini in a layered form of pink to blue.
To portray the fight over her gowns coloring.
It's the mistress of evil herself, Maleficent. The layering in this drink makes it look like an oil spill, and nothing short of vile.
It is a mixture of tart, bitter, and sour that is a wonderful combination, while still having a strong vodka based backbone.
Belle's drink is a mellow yellow banana split martini. It's smooth, sweet, and light. Makes for the perfect dessert drink.
The macho villain himself, Gaston. More of a drink for the boys, a whiskey based cocktail, with rich black cherry, and smooth nutty amaretto finish.
Each layer has a different flavor type going on, and when combined make a great islander drink.
All topped with Swedish Fish.
In a unique refreshing combo of Grape and coconut rum, the 'Sea Witch' is born.
Jasmine's drink is white rum based, and a much more exotic light mix. The main hassle with this drink is mixing it so the color lands. All topped with gold sprinkles, and laying at the bottom.
Jafar is a sleek, tall, toxic drink. Along with one of my favorite liquors ever, Myers Rum, it makes for a very potent drink with the pineapple, and grenadine cover. All topped with a orange peel cut into a cobra.
Cinderella's classic blue gown captured into this creamy light, blueberry based drink.
A drink that's a vile deep red, bitter pomegranate flavoring, with a sweet chocolate finish. Perfect for this malicious villain.
Snow: The base drink is pineapple juice and a splash of Sprite at the bottom, and blue curacao layered on top. Grumpy: The Orange & grenadine work perfectly with the base drink.
Cursed Apple: Equal all on the Apple, double cran.
And there are others and more on his Facebook page. You'll just have to head over and check them out. Plus he's always adding new ones. Just recently added a Rapunzel drink as well. I'm going to be keeping my eye out his page from now on and you should too. These are just so cute and creative. Who wouldn't love to taste one of these?

The History Of Baking

I have always been a fan of baking. In fact, baking used to be something I did on a daily basis. Now, I don't ever seem to find the time to get out my mixer and it kills me. I am not a cook, but I do love to bake. So I was recently introduced to this little graphic that shows the history of baking and it's sometimes fun to sit back and see how your interests have evolved over time and when exactly it had started.

Of course, baking has come a long way, as most things have over time. But it's fun to see what people used to use and work with to make simple things like breads and cakes. The graphic starts off with the Egyptians and ends with today’s society.
