DIY Fading Mask

I am such a nerd when it comes to DIY projects. Especially ones for my body or face. I love the thought of using no harsh chemicals on my body and the fun of making it. So I came across this on a few blogs I've read and decided to try it out myself. It's called the "Burning Mask". The reason for the name is because of the acidity of the mask. Some people expirenced an uncomfortable "burning" sensation.

Here's what you need to get started:

Ingredients:
- Cinnamon
- Lemon Juice
- Honey

The original recipe also included Nutmeg but I did not have that and it wasn't available in the store. They were sold out. So I used these three instead. I only buy Wildflower Honey because I love how thick and chunky it is. It worked great for this tutorial because it turned it into an amazing exfoliater.

Honestly, I did not measure the ingredients. I just poured them into a bowl LOL yes, I really did. However, if you are wanting to have some measurements, Lulu And Sweet Pea has it all broken down for you. However  when I first attempted this, I used a lot of lemon juice. It seems to irritate and make a "burning" feeling on some people's skin. But to me, I felt nothing. I am not sensitive to the acidity so it was not an issue for me. For this tutorial, I used less of the juice though.
I believe it is better to use a real lemon for it's juice instead of the lemon juice in the bottle. I was out of lemons so this was the next best thing. But I recommend using all natural products with no preservatives for the most cleanest and chemical free product.

Step One
Add the cinnamon into the bowl

Step Two
Add the honey

Step Three
Add in the lemon juice

Step Four
Mix all ingredients together until the contents is thoroughly mixed well and looks kind of like melted chocolate

Step Five
Start applying all over your face. As you can tell, mine was a bit runny. It kept going down my hand. But I just kept applying the entire thing until my face was well coated and I rubbed it in for a minute as an exfoliate.

TADA! I'm Sexy and I know it! HAHAHA Yea, not the prettiest looking mask but I must tell you, it smelled incredible!!! My daughter screamed though when she saw me LOL

Step Six
Leave on for 10-30 minutes depending on your skin. I left mine on for 20 minutes.

Once you are ready to remove the mask, simply rinse your face with warm water and pat dry. I have to tell you, my skin felt ├╝ber amazing. It was so smooth and felt like I just had a microdermabra done to it. What this mask is supposed to do is help brighten the skin while removing imperfections such as dark spots. I believe you are to do this a couple times a week and that is what I plan on doing.

If you didn't know, these ingredients are a great key to healthy skin.
  • Cinnamon can help rid your face or back of acne by both drying out the skin and, again, bringing blood and oxygen to the skin surface.
  • Honey acts as an antibacterial substance it is beneficial for acne prone skin. Honey will inhibit the bacteria growth therefore reducing the chance of breakouts.
  • Lemon juice may aid in diminishing the appearance of scars and age spots. It may also reduce the appearance of scars left behind from acne lesions.
Try it and see how you like it. I would love to hear your thoughts or comments!

However, if you aren't into making a mask for yourself and it's not really your thing, no worries! There are lots of other great ways to help rid of acne where you don't have to do any work at all. Check out these best face masks for acne that you can you purchase without the DIY handyman work involved and they work great as well.

Pasta Salad Made My Way

If you guys didn't know this about me before, I am not a cook. I do not like cooking. I do not like anything associated with cooking. In fact, I think I would rather have my left arm chopped off then asked to cook. Yes, it is true. I hate it. But I love baking...and yes, there is a difference. I leave all the cooking up to the husband. He's really good at it and doesn't mind doing it. So it works out!

So I decided I would try an attempt at cooking something. So it's not that big of anything at all, but it was my attempt. I take a bit of credit for trying at least.

So I decided to make an extremely simple version of pasta salad. And here's how I did it:

Ingredients I used:
- one box rotini
- 3/4 bottle of Italian salad dressing
- 1/4 cup of salad supreme seasoning

Step One:
I boiled the water and pasta together like you would normally do.
Nothing fancy there. Just some good ol' boiling!

Step Two:
I then drained out the water once the pasta was complete and then ran cold water over it for a minute as suggested. Then I placed the pasta back into the pot.

Step Three:
I went ahead and poured the Italian dressing on top of the pasta and then mixed it until fully covered and applied over it.

The pasta was now all nice and shiny looking with it's wonderful coat of dressing mixed in.

Step Four
I measured out 1/4 cup of the seasoning spices.

Step Five:
I then poured it into the pasta and mixed it very thoroughly.

Step Six:
Place the pasta in the fridge to cool for at least four hours
Once chilled, you can take it out and serve.

Now I have to say, it didn't taste exactly how I hoped it did. But you know, it was decent for a first attempt. It wasn't bad. But it wasn't the bets either. Next time, I'm going to try and take it up a notch and do some fancier things with it and more additions. But for now..I had to brag I actually went into the kitchen and cooked something

The Time I Made Money Shopping

Who hasn't seen Extreme Couponing? I just recently started watching it on Netflix {yes, I'm a little behind} but I have got to tell you....it's addicting. You sit and wonder "how can these people be doing this? How can I get in on this?" I know they say it takes a lot of time and dedication to get to where some of these people are...but it seems worth it, doesn't it?

I attempted to be "in tune" with my couponing instincts for the first time a few months back. Read about how I only spent 10 cents on my purchase HERE. I know, it's not much...nor was it anywhere with hundreds of dollars in purchases, but it was a start and pretty good for my first time trying.

So I decided to try it again.

This time, my product count was small again, but instead of spending money, I wanted to go for making money. And I sure did. Here's what I got:

some feminine stuff and a food saver.

Together, after my purchase of these items...I actually had the store pay me $4.53 back. It feels pretty awesome to shop and get money back for your items. Here's how my plan went:

$2.00 off one package of U Kotex liners.
Each one was $1.24
I had two coupons so I bought two. Which came to $4/$2.48
That is a $1.52 profit

$20.00 off one Food Saver
Food Saver was on sale for $16.99
That is a $3.01 profit

For a grand total of $4.53 profit I made from shopping.

So because of that, I decided to treat myself to some makeup.

I had a coupon for Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm
I had a coupon for $2/1 and used two coupons so I bought two. Regular price was $2.99 - $2.00 which made each one $0.99

The total of those were $1.98 and that still kept me in without spending money and ending up with $2.55 of free money.

So I would say that was a good shopping trip. Free items are always a great thing! Even though it was a small purchase, I still loved that I made money off of it.

Do you do extreme coupon deals? What's the bets transaction you have ever had?
